This course is an introduction on how to play Clawhammer Banjo, Allison goes through, in great detail, the most common rhythm patterns and shows how to use them in the tunes she presents. You will learn about the "Bum-diddy", the "Double Thumb", the "Cross over" patterns, and the famous "Galax Lick". The tunes are from the old-time tradition of the United States of America. Allison also goes through different tunings, chords, and how to think when in an old-time jam setting with fiddlers.

About the Banjo
The banjo is a stringed musical instrument that is believed to have originated in West Africa and was brought to the Americas by enslaved Africans. The instrument was initially made using a gourd as a resonator and animal skin as the drumhead. The banjo's popularity grew in the 19th century in the United States, particularly in the minstrel shows that were popular at the time. The banjo's distinctive sound became an important part of genres such as bluegrass, folk, and country music. Today, the banjo continues to be a popular instrument, played by musicians all over the world and loved for its unique sound and versatility.
