Finally a cello course on the site.

CELTIC FOLK CELLO - Natalie Haas

We are ecstatic to finally release this awesome course with none other than Natalie Haas, an absolute groove master on the cello. The course is an introduction to Celtic cello, featuring 8 melodies from Ireland, Scotland, and England which are well-suited to the cello.

Explore how to adapt fiddle melodies to cello, from bowing and ornamentation to how to make those tricky tunes that spend a lot of time on the E-string work in a more comfortable way!

We will also look into some basics of how to accompany, from different rhythmic techniques and chord voicings to some basic patterns for the most prevalent tune types.

Natalie is one of the most sought-after cellists playing traditional music today. She and Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser have toured as a duo for over 20 years, wowing audiences at festivals and concerts worldwide with their unique sound. A graduate of the Juilliard School, where she studied with cellist Fred Sherry, Natalie discovered the cello at age nine. In addition to having extensive classical music training, she is accomplished in a broad array of fiddle genres.
